A Relaxing Day at Glyfa

Around the Island

The beach at Glyfa

There is a slight northern wind blowing on the island the last few days, a great opportunity to explore the southern side of the island. So today we went to Glyfa down south looking for a relaxing spot to spend the day. And we found it!

After a couple of hours under the sun and a little bit of swimming we got a bit hungry and without second thoughts we just moved to the restaurant of the area, only meters away from the beach. It had been a while since I was last here but I was glad to find out that everything was in place. It is a lovely family restaurant in a plot of land where the owners grow the vegetables they then serve.

The menu consists of traditional greek dishes and offers a good variety including dishes with meat, a little bit of seafood and quite a few options for vegetarians -or even vegans. We went for a classic greek salad as the tomatoes looked really juicy and tasty, and they were, some vlita green leaves, the traditional parian dish, chickpeas cooked in the oven and some courgette croquettes. Everything was delicious, but I think that the real winners were the fresh tomatoes and cucumber of the salad!

We struggled to finish it all but we did quite a good job after all. We kindly accepted some melon we were offered before paying a very reasonable bill. So, with our bellies and souls full of some greek summer goodness we called it a day! A relaxing day, down south.
